Happy to receive our 10th Japan shipment ..but...

Our order had been detained by ICA (Immigration & Checkposts Authory) !
This is because the amount had exceed S$400 ...so need to pay GST tax of 7%.
I'm too careless this round as the total order had exceed 25,000 yen


Buying from Japan is not cheap as we had to pay product bidding cost,agent fee , bank transition fee , japan's domestic fee, EMS international deleivery charge EMS ...and now GST tax . There is no profit as we could not sell high . By selling too low...we may even incurred a loss ..might as well keep for ourselves.


I don't think we are buying from Japan anymore at the moment ...its always good to take a short break.


Tips
* Do not buy from Japan ...unless you are buying in bulk and come in as a single shipment. Take note of the limit S$400 value to avoid GST

* Ask the agent to place invoice outside the box. In this way, ICA will process it much faster and they will hand over to SPEED POST for delivery. Upon sending to your place, Speed post will collect $5 handling charge + 7% of your lot value

~ For my case , i've place the invoice inside the box...that's why it had been detain by ICA ...so had to go down to SING POST building to collect personally . Paid for 7% GST but no handling charge. Don't forget , i still had to pay for my own transport to go there and transport it back home on my own all the way from Paya lebar ...and the time spent...energy spent...lucky box not so heavy..

* Most Japan agents could not help you cheat by declaring a lower value on the invoice.

* Take note of the currency exchange rate. Buying from Taiwan can be even more expensive than from Japan.

How to calculate ?

For example , your total japan order value is 30,000yen
S$ = 30,000 x 0.01567
= S$470.10 ( exceed S$400 limit...had to pay for GST tax !)
